Dental Crowns

Dental crowns (porcelain crowns) are oftentimes used in combination with other dental procedures to create an entirely “new you” in terms of the way you will look and feel.

The purpose of a crown, particularly one made from porcelain is to improve the aesthetic appearance of a tooth and to support and rehabilitate teeth that have experienced (for a variety of reasons) structured defects. Contemporary esthetic porcelains can cover a dental implant, repair teeth that have had root canal therapy, fractures, removal of large, decayed or broken fillings, or teeth that may have had trauma due to excessive wear.

A crown can be made of porcelain or a combination of precious metal and porcelain. Porcelain is considered one of the most popular choices for crown material in our office because of its durability and texture. Porcelain also offers the most precisely matched color for your natural teeth.

With the advancement of porcelain technology, we are able to replace your older, non-functional crowns and immediately enhance the optical characteristics of the tooth color.  These newer techniques enable our team to more accurately match your natural smile.

Every patient’s needs are unique, so we approach each case on an individual basis.  The creation of a dental crown can usually be accomplished within two appointments. During the initial visit, Dr. Gordon will personally examine the affected tooth and gum and have digital X-rays taken to assess and carefully consider the specific elements and select the best restoration for the site. If a crown(s) is determined, any decay (or damage) will be gently removed so that an impression of the tooth can be taken. A temporary crown is then placed to protect the site until replaced by the permanent crown. Dr. Gordon dedicates the second visit for the permanent crown placement.

The use of superior dental technology and materials allows us to bond your crowns in place (not simply cement). We confidently use the best quality dental materials and partner with the most high-tech and reputable laboratories in order to achieve the best results for you.

Our primary goal is to give our patients healthy, functional and long-lasting beautiful crowns that create the most natural smile possible and improve well-being.
